We also invite you to attend the Gullah Geechee Seminar that morning, hosted by the East Cooper Civic Club, with roundtable discussions of issues that impact the communities along the Gullah Geechee Culture Heritage Corridor. The seminar will be held from 10 until 2 on Saturday, June 4, in the Cooper River Room at Mount Pleasant's Waterfront Park.

Join us for enticing Gullah-inspired creations by renowned Chefs BJ Dennis, Kimberly Brock Brown, Kevin Green, April Mazyck, Lorraine and Antwan Smalls, and Scotts Grand, as well as Gullah entertainment, and a live auction featuring a stunning sweetgrass basket by Helen Burns, artist Virginia Watson's very special "Passing the Traditions" Gullah Dolls and artwork by Jonathan Green and Tate Nation. Proceeds from this fundraiser will support the 2016 Sweetgrass Basket Making Summer Camp. This annual event is designed to promote and preserve the Gullah Geechee peoples' history, heritage, culture and traditions. Visitors will find the work of 20+ sweetgrass basket makers and other artwork and crafts available for purchase, basketmaking demonstrations, children's activities and a variety of food vendors.
The entertainment is scheduled throughout the afternoon, and will include the following performers and times: Jasmine McCray, 2:15; the Imani Milele Children's Choir at 2:20; Brian Birchfield, Country Gospel Singer at 2:45; Chaquis Maliq, One Woman Band at 3:00, Bill DuPont, Blues Singer at 3:20; Gloria Barr-Ford, Gullah Storyteller at 4:00; Divine Harmony, Gospel Singers at 4:15; Secret Band at 5:00; , Adande African Drummers and Dancers at 6:00; concluding with a joint performance by Adande Drummers and Dancers and the Imani Milele Childrens Choir.
