2017 Festival Information
This year's festival will be held on June 3rd, 2017 at Mount Pleasant Memorial Waterfront Park.
The address for the event is 99 Harry M. Hallman Jr Blvd, Mt Pleasant, SC 29464. Just over the Ravenel Bridge.
The Sweet Grass Festival is a family event.
No alcohol allowed.
Free entry for all, with free parking available!
What is the Sweet Grass Festival?
This annual event is designed to promote and preserve the Gullah Geechee peoples' history, heritage, culture and traditions.
Visitors will find the work of 20+ sweetgrass basket makers and other artwork and crafts available for purchase, basketmaking demonstrations, and children's activities.
Past entertainment has included the Secret Band, the Imani Milele Children's Choir, Adande African Drummers and Dancers, and Gullah Storytellers.
2017 entertainment will be announced soon.

Taste of Gullah
Join us for enticing Gullah-inspired creations! Last year's event included food by renowned Chefs BJ Dennis, Kimberley Brock Brown, Kevin Green, April Mazyck, Lorraine and Antwan Smalls, and Scots Grand, as well as a wide range of Gullah entertainment, and a live auction featuring a stunning sweetgrass basket by Helen Burns and artwork by Jonathan Green and Tate Nation.
Proceeds from this fundraiser will support the Sweetgrass Basket Making Summer Camp. Advance purchase ticket price is generally $75. More information about 2017's event coming soon.
